The time to launch eggs into the sky comes early this year. Preparations are underway.

The invite is open and I fully encourage you to make your own egg lofting rockets. Generally the rockets are of custom design, but if you're not up for that, you can very easily buy a rocket kit from your local hobby shop (or megalomart if you must) and instead of installing a nosecone with recovery system, glue an egg on top.

We're toying around with adding a competitive category. If we do, we probably won't figure it out until launch day. Most likely it will be somewhere along the lines of either: "Longest Air Time", "Most eggs lofted w/ D-engine", "Closest landing to launchpad", "Lowest altitude that clears the launchpad" etc. We're still soliciting ideas.

Even if you don't want to submit an entry, feel free to attend and watch. Or participate by taking pictures, heckling Art, judging the contests or whatever else you might think of. Just a warning, although there will be moments of great excitement and fear of imminent death, there can be long waits in between launches and the start time will undoubtedly be later than we plan. Be prepared to entertain yourself in an outdoor park like setting during this downtime. You may want to bring food, frisbees… and given the early date of the Loft this year, consider building a snow fort. If there is not snow, there will be mud. (Do I know how to promote an event or what?!)
